Styling Affordable Asian Fashion

Due to being a cost-wary and fast-moving high school student, I'm not always able to wear brand names or the most extravagant outfits to school. However, I love to style all types of clothes- from H&M sweaters to Diane von Furstenberg dresses, I find creativity and relaxation through styling clothes. Recently, as seen in my other blog post, I had visited Japan over the summer. Currently, Japan is going through a fast-fashion phase amongst their millenials. Fast fashion is basically trendy-looking clothes for very affordable prices. In the US, some typical fast fashion companies include Forever 21 or Top Shop, however, I have always despised these brands not because of its cheapness, but because of their very much obnoxious and unoriginal designs! (for fast fashion in the US I prefer H&M). Yet, when I went to Japan, I had explored some fast fashion brands from there and actually found some very cute pieces for cheap, as well as the quality being much better than say, Forever 21's.

Pretty much every piece (except my shoes) are from Japanese clothing brands.

So for this outfit, I was really just inspired by the whole Japanese modern Harajuku look. I paired a sheer polka dot top with a sort of a black bustier/ crop top over it. I wanted to contrast the thinness of the shirt with a kind of more matte and thick-textured top over it.

Then I decided to wear culottes to kind of dress down the outfit, as culottes are not only comfortable, but also gives outfits a casual, yet sophisticated look.

I paired this look with my Gucci rose-embroidered mules. I feel that the mules had somewhat enhanced my look as the pink rose had given it a pop of color.

Here's a closer look of my outfit and I will list the items and where to find them below

Overall, this outfit reached a bit out of my comfort zone, but I really did enjoy styling and wearing it to school. After seeing the fast fashion brands in Japan, I think the US seriously needs to up their game. Fast fashion is an affordable way to still have all the trends but for a cheaper price, and for any on-budget student like me who still wants to be fashionable, then styling is the way to go. I recommend to kind of just play around with any clothing pieces you might already have, and style them into something you like!

I really hope this was informative about fast fashion, as well as the art of styling. Well, thanks for reading and remember to stay stylish! ;)
